Titling and Post Production Premiere

I was in charge of creating the titles for my group and I had no clue where to start. After experimenting on premiere I found that the easiest way to crate the titles would be on premiere as it would be quite simple and quick to do.

To do this you first have to left click on the bottom left block and select new item and title.

Then this box will appear and you can name the title what you want to and click ok.

Then this screen will come up and this is the space that you can create and edit the titles. There are loads of different things you can do here such as change the font and colour to get the kind of total you want. The effect we wanted to go for was horror writing like the titles from se7en

You can then write in the title and as an example I have taken the main title which was ‘Porcelain’ and wrote it in the centre of the screen.

You can then change the font  of the text and we changed the font numerous times as we were never happy with how it fitted with the shots.

This is the process I used to create the titles for our media piece.

Props List For Shooting

The only prop that we used when filming was the doll. This is because the opening sequence of our film only involved the actors and the doll as it is about the audience finding out why the doll is bad and why the dad wants to get rid of it so badly. The actors don’t use anything else in the shots apart from talking to each other and holding the doll.

In the title sequence a range of shots are used most including the doll. Some shots are outside of the playground and of the woods but we didn’t need anything for those shots apart from our equipment (DSLR camera and tripod). The shots that are red needed some props such as scissors and other stationary, which can be seen in the picture below.

Costume and Make up design

Our costumes that we used in the title and opening sequence were quite simple and ordinary as we wanted them to fit with the people, and the people were just a regular family. The main actor in the sequence is Will who plays Paul Wood (the father) wears a green jacket when outside and walking through the woods as the weather where he lives is cold but not so cold that he needs to wear a thick coat. Underneath the jacket he wears a jumper but it isn’t really visible, as every time he is in a scene he has a reason to have his coat on. We thought that he should just wear an ordinary jumper because he’s just at home helping his daughter pack and therefore has no reason to wear anything formal and just wants to be wearing something that is comfortable.Screen Shot 2016-03-13 at 15.45.28

Another actor in the opening sequence is Seona who plays the grown up version of Cindy Wood who is about to leave for university. In this scene she wears a  plain jumper and black jeans, we thought that she should just be wearing something quite plain and easy as most of her stuff will be packed in the car ready to move and she also wants to be wearing something comfortable as she probably has to sit in the car for quite a long time to get to university. For her hair and make up we thought it should be quite simple and everyday, nothing to dressy as she wouldn’t have had ages to spend doing it.Screen Shot 2016-03-13 at 15.53.05

In the flashback scene of Cindy playing with the doll when she was a child, she is wearing stripped leggings, a top and a cardigan. We wanted her to be wearing something that a young girl would be wearing whilst she is at home playing with her toys.

In the flashback scene we had to make Will look younger as he was playing Paul woods 10 years ago. To do this we just made him wear a jumper and black jeans but also style his hair slightly different so the audience were aware that this wasn’t this year.

Other than this we didn’t have any other characters apart from the doll which is technically one of the main characters as it is alive. When choosing a doll to use in our sequence we wanted to make sure it looked old and damaged like it had been in a house fire and played with for years. As the doll is the bad one in our film we wanted the audience to know that from the minute they saw it rather than them seeing it move to be able to know this.
